Home automation has become something that every house has. The reasons for this is the fact that the cost of these automation systems have come down in the past few years. Also people have become more keen in making their daily activities easier and more efficient. Also once these systems are installed, they do not need much maintenance. One of the most common automation system is a wireless lighting controlling system. It is quite easy to install and also there are numerous advantages as well.

The pros:

When it comes to the advantages, there are plenty. The most important one is that there would be a considerable reduction in the energy consumption if the controller is smart. This means that the controller would be able to understand when there is no one in a particular room and hence it can switch the lights off in that particular room. A network of sensors and an intelligent processor would be required for implementing this function.

Another advantage is that the residents would be able to control the lights from anywhere in the house. Also the control can be done via gadgets like smart phones. If there is internet connectivity, then the users can control the lighting through the internet even if they are not at home.

The cons:

The most important disadvantage is that if the system gets damaged, then the user wouldn’t be able to properly control the lights. Hence there should be a manual override for the entire controller. Another concern is that if there is internet connectivity, there are chances for accesses that are not authorised.
